Symptoms of damage:

• Young pods showing bore holes plugged with excreta
• Sand particles or discoloured pulps
• Pods without kernal.

Identification of the pest:

• Nymph: White in early stages and later turns brown
• Adult: Dark brown to black with forceps like caudal cerci and white leg joints

Management:

• Apply any one of the following on soil at 40 DAS prior to sowing in endemic areas
  • Malathion 5 D 25 kg/ha
  • Carbofuran 3% CG 50 kg/ha
